Children should arrive at school at 8.45am and line up in their year groups on the infant playground. Staff blow the whistle at 8.50am and children are escorted to their classrooms by their teacher in single file and silence. Please do not talk to the teacher after the whistle has blown, please see the teacher at the end of the school day if required. Children arriving after the whistle should be taken to the school office and signed in. At 8.55am the children have a short aerobic session followed by registration.
Children should not be left in the playground without supervision.
Regular attendance is very important but children should not be sent to school if they are unwell. Please telephone or e-mail the school before 9.00 am if your child is going to be absent and on each subsequent day. Supervision for children who are unable to go outside at playtime or lunchtime cannot be arranged. Permission can only be given by prior arrangement with the headteacher.
Attendance registers must now distinguish between authorised and unauthorised absences and all absences need to be coded. Unless you can confirm the reason (by letter, telephone or in person) the absence will have to be counted as unauthorised and will count towards the truancy rate which is published in the prospectus and in the governors school profile. Also, any child arriving after registration closes constitutes unauthorised absence. During the statutory reporting period there were 218 pupils of compulsory school age on roll. There were 0.26% unauthorised absences; 2.02% of half days were missed through authorised absences.
