Governors

Governors are diligent in their work. They ensure that leaders’ actions are making a positive difference to improve the quality of education for all pupils. Ofsted July 2022

The Governors at Our Lady School play an active and very important role in the organisation, operations and running of the school.

We bring our work and life experiences to the meetings in the hope of bringing many characters, information and expertise forward for the good of the school and especially the children.

We meet as a full governing body once a term and are also split into 2 main committees; Operations and School Improvement Committee and meet once a term too. There are also other committees including Safeguarding, Child protection, Admissions, Staff Grievance & Pupil Discipline, Appeals etc.

We take a strict stance on family holidays during school time as your child really does lose out on learning if they are not in school for all of the school year. It doesn’t just affect your child, it affects their teacher who has to make sure your child catches up with everything they have missed and it also affects the other children in the class, especially their learning buddy, whilst your child catches up. It puts an immense pressure on the school.

At Our Lady School we are extremely lucky to have experienced, wonderful staff that make our school the wonderful learning environment it is today. Our head, Mrs Snowball, has brought a fresh approach and a great deal of knowledge, experience and expertise with her which is going to help our school grow and strengthen further.

As a Governing Body we will keep parents/carers informed of the work that we are doing on behalf of the School and will consult with you about significant developments/projects. It is important to us that all parents/carers feel that they have a line of communication to us. Therefore, if you have a question for the Governing Body please email us at governors@ourladys.herts.sch.uk and we will aim to respond to you within five working days. Please note that any issue concerning a child at the school should be raised directly with their class teacher or Mrs Snowball.

If you would like to join the Governing team or would like further information, please contact our Chair of Governors via email governors@ourladys.herts.sch.uk or contact the school office for more information.
