RE Homework
At Our Lady School, we believe that Religious Education is not just a subject—it’s a journey of faith, reflection, and understanding. To support this journey beyond the classroom, we offer a variety of RE homework opportunities that help embed learning, encourage spiritual growth, and strengthen the partnership between school and home.
Class-Based RE Homework – Every Third Week
Every third week, children receive class-set RE homework designed to reinforce and rehearse the learning taking place in school. These tasks may include reflections, creative responses, or short activities linked to current RE topics. They provide an opportunity for children to deepen their understanding and for families to engage in meaningful conversations about faith and values at home.
Whole School Gospel Homework – Monthly
Once a month, we set a whole-school RE homework linked to the Gospel reading from the Children’s Mass at Our Lady Church. This homework encourages children to reflect on the message of the Gospel and how it relates to their own lives. It’s a beautiful way to connect home, school, and parish, and to help children see the relevance of Scripture in their everyday experiences.
Prayer Bags – Supporting Spiritual Growth at Home
In addition to written homework, each class sends home a Prayer Bag on a rota basis. These special bags contain resources such as prayer cards, a candle, a small cross, and a reflection book. Families are invited to spend time together in prayer, using the materials to create a quiet moment of spiritual connection. Children can record their thoughts or prayers in the reflection book, which is then shared with the class. The Prayer Bags are a cherished tradition that supports the spiritual development of our pupils and strengthens the faith life of our school community.
